Wet Sanding Cultured Marble
I was disappointed by how quickly my cultured marble countertop lost its shine so one day i took out my auto polisher and went at it.
Wet sanding cultured marble. Keep the sanding even level and straight. Change your damp pieces of sandpaper as required. Dirt and dust will compress into the marble further scarring or discoloring the surface. Dampen a piece of 400 grit sandpaper and beginning again at one end evenly sand the entire cultured marble vanity surface as you did before.
If the cultured marble surface still isn t smooth and shiny try wet sanding with 1 000 grit wet dry sandpaper also available at auto supply stores followed by buffing with rubbing and polishing compounds to remove any scratches from the sandpaper. Before sanding or grinding any marble surface it is important to clean the area thoroughly. This will require using a wet sanding process to achieve the desired results. Sanding marble is a time consuming process.
While this method will work fine for statues tile and marble countertops sanding large areas of marble like marble floors requires a completely different process and technique. This diy project shows how we saved all the cultured marble countertops in our project house by polishing polishing polishing. Wipe your vanity surface again with a clean soft cloth.
